INTRODUCTORY METABOLISM MODULE

Aim

To introduce students to the range of chemical reactions occurring in living systems which relate to the use, storage and mobilisation of biological fuels.

Objectives

At the completion of this module students should be able to describe the major pathways of chemical reactions which constitute cellular metabolism and the role of metabolism in the functioning of the human body. They should be able to discuss the relationships between different organs in these processes and the circumstances under which different biological fuels are used.
