Making your initial plan

Using the ideas and insights you generated in the question analysis and brainstorming you can draw up an initial plan. This will help to keep you focussed and guide your writing.

Planning the Body

Look at the list of issues or ideas that you developed from the brainstorm you did of the journal entries you made.

How could these be grouped?

How can the items from the list be linked together?
Can you organise them into a few main categories with sub-categories?

Applying the word limit

Estimate how you might distribute the 1000 words to the various ideas or themes of your paper. You could guide yourself with a few questions like:ask yourself:

How many words will you allow for your Introduction?

How many words will you allow for your Conclusion?

How will you distribute the rest among the parts of the Body identified in you initial plan?

How many major themes or ideas are there?

Will they take up equal amounts of your discussion?

What is a good balance between the various parts?
