Prerequisite(s): COMP 2012 Objects and Algorithms in C++.

2D Graphics

2D geometry, transformations. Windows and viewports. Graphics output primitives. Basic 2D algorithms.Clipping.

3D Graphics

3D Geometry, transformations. Perspective and parallel projections. Viewing transformations. Clipping.

Representation of surfaces

Polygon mesh, triangulated irregular networks, and spline representations of surfaces.Data structures and algorithms to generate and display surfaces.Fractal and other modelling methods.

Generation of realistic images

Hidden line and hidden surface problems: classification of algorithms; Back-face removal, depth-buffer, scan line, depth-sort, area subdivision, octree algorithms; comparison of algorithms. Colour models and surface shading. Texture, surface patterns, shadows and transparency. Ray tracing.

Manipulation of images

Image storage formats. Basic image manipulation algorithms.
