How can I use the LEPI?
There are 2 ways of working in this learning environment.
- You can begin by choosing a classroom event which interests you. Go to the classroom event
links on this home page, click on one and you will be taken to that event’s home page. From
there further links will take you through guided research pathways so that you can see examples of
analysis.
- You can explore the data independently using the searchable database. Click on the link on this
home page and you will be taken to the database home page. You can then search the database using
one or more of the search categories which are available. It is recommended that you acquaint
yourself with the classroom events before exploring this option.
What is the LEPI?
LEPI stands for Learning Environment for Practitioner Inquiry. This is a web-based learning
environment which is designed for teachers who are learning how to do research in their classrooms.
The LEPI has several features:
- It is based around real classroom events. All the data has been gathered from lessons taught
by Australian teachers.
- It provides models of how to analyse classroom data. Researchers explain how they have worked
with various kinds of data.
- It is open for independent exploration. A searchable database gives you access to all
the data.
