Examples of good practice in giving feedback
The following web sites provide a range of practices, research and resources currently being used for giving feedback in UniSA and other higher education institutions.
Within the University of South Australia
Examples of standard assessment feedback forms that comply with the new Assessment Code of Good Practice.
An interactive web site for the sharing and development of compliant assessment feedback forms, managed by Academic development staff at Learning Connection, is available for staff. You can download examples of suitable assessment feedback forms developed by others and adjust them to your own assessment needs.
Standardising criteria
The School of Social Work and Social Policy has developed school-wide criteria for the assessment of written assignments. These criteria are used to guide markers to provide more consistent marking and feedback.
Other Higher Education institutions
University of Essex Department of History assessment criteria. There are several assessment feedback sheets in this site. Note in the essay feedback sheet, the final marking criteria encourages students to develop their second essay in response to feedback from their first essay through indicating students' "Quality of response to feedback on 1st essay".
The Centre for Development of Learning and Teaching of Saint Martin's College has a good practice collection. See Appendix 8 for examples of marking grids.
Pathways to good practice provide marking grids for printmaking, presentations, as well as essays.
