Entry Requirements
Entry into TAFE study does not need to be based on year 12 qualifications, previous study or qualifications. TAFE provides alternate pathways for mature aged people and people with disabilities. Under current entry requirements potential students are eligible to apply for TAFE courses even if they have not completed secondary school. At some TAFE institutes there is also flexibility to combine different alternate entry requirements. Examples of the alternate entry pathways at TAFE include:
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
- employment experience
- personal competencies
- bridging courses
- special consideration
If you don't have the presumed knowledge for the course that you are interested in studying try exploring bridging programs, introductory and preparatory courses to obtain this knowledge. These courses are run by most university and TAFE institutes in addition to some private training providers. Bridging programs, introductory and preparatory courses are a great way to obtain or refresh your knowledge on specific topics that you need to know as a pre requisite to undertaking tertiary study.
