Disability Services
TAFE, university and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) have dedicated disability staff to assist students with disabilities and/or ongoing medical conditions to undertake tertiary study. Smaller RTOs may offer services for students with disabilities in affiliation with larger training organisations. The role of disability staff is to undertake the following:
- provide support services to students with disabilities and/or ongoing medical conditions
- make recommendations to academic staff and trainers about reasonable adjustments
- refer students to internal and external support services and agencies where appropriate

Services provided by disability staff include:
- pre enrolment assistance
- flexible attendance
- tutors and learning support
- the provision of sign language interpreters
- materials in an accessible format
- note takers
- participation assistance in laboratory classes
- negotiating alternative learning and assessment tasks
- the provision of adaptive study materials and equipment
- negotiating alternative arrangements for examinations
- assistance with access requirements
