Aim
The program is designed to provide advanced training in the dissection, sampling and preparation of tissues for histopathological examination and diagnosis.
Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent. In addition,
- applicants must have ongoing access to an accredited (or NPAAC-recognised) pathology laboratory (to fulfil supervisory requirements); and
- applicants must have majored in or completed advanced studies in laboratory histopathology.
Content/structure
This 18 unit program consists of a detailed study of tissue selection, dissection and preparation methods appropriate to histopathological analysis. This process is supported by a formal study in normal and abnormal tissue structure and a direct experience in tissue preparation.

Rules
Students must abide by the standards of dress and behaviour, occupational health and safety and designated work practices laid down for the laboratory in which they complete their experiential component.
Notes
Students would normally complete their workbook within one year of enrolment.
