This program is available over one year full time or two years part time study.

Aim

The program is designed to produce graduates who have the capacity to apply advanced research skills and the ability to undertake and manage research projects in a health related field. The program will prepare students for postgraduate study or for employment, particularly in research and development, in their professional or related areas.

Entry requirements

Normally, candidates for admission to the Honours program will have a credit level average or above in an undergraduate program in the field of health sciences or an undergraduate program relevant to their intended research project.

English language entry requirements
In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must satisfy the following:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA;
OR
Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years;
OR
Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which English is an official language as determined by the University.

Content/structure

The Honours degree consists of 36 units of study. Students, in consultation with their supervisor, will select 18 units from the matrix of preparatory research courses available or Honours Thesis HS A. All students then undertake the 18 unit course, Honours Thesis HS.

Fee information

Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth Supported
Fees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.

Fees for International students: $AU 19,500 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules

  1. Without special permission from the Program Director, students may not undertake Honours Thesis HS until 18 units of study from the other courses in the Schedule have been completed successfully and marks for these units have been entered.
  2. Students undertaking both the courses Honours Thesis HS A and Honours Thesis HS will have an incomplete grade recorded against Honours Thesis HS A until assessment of the thesis is completed, at which time the grade for each course, Honours Thesis HS A and Honours Thesis A, will be finalised to reflect the mark and grade awarded to the thesis as a whole.

Notes

  1. Not all courses will be available in each half of the year.
  2. Courses may be withdrawn in any study period if student numbers are insufficient.
