INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY
Applications to this program are via UniSA's Apply Online portal.
Applicants for this program must complete the additional information form.
This 45 unit program is conducted over one calendar year rather than an academic year. Students are required to undertake studies during the Summer Study Period, and the First and Second Halves of the year. Fees quoted below are for an academic year of 36 units of study, and therefore students must consider this in their fee calculation for the 45 unit program.
Police Checks
All students in the Division of Health Sciences who undertake field or clinical placements, or participate in University clinics as part of their program, must have had an Australian police clearance prior to the commencement of any placement or clinic activity.
Aim
To provide physiotherapists with specialised education in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and to enable them to develop an advanced level of evidence based practice, providing eligibility for titled membership of the National Special Groups of the Australian Physiotherapy Association: Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia and Sports Physiotherapy Australia.
Entry requirements
Applicants should normally hold a four-year bachelor degree in Physiotherapy or its equivalent.
Applicants should normally have at least two years of professional experience since graduation.
Note: while two years clinical experience is required, competition for places in the Master of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy program is strong and evidence of further musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy continuing education since graduation is desired.
English language entry requirements
In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must satisfy the following:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Overall score of 6.5 (with sub-scores of 6.0 in Reading and Writing) obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA;
OR
Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years;
OR
Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which English is an official language as determined by the University.
Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of at least two years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University.
Content/structure
This 45 unit program is conducted over one calendar year rather than an academic year. It provides opportunities for students to study the three components (manipulative, orthopaedic and sports) of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This program commences with two research courses. Theoretical knowledge of biomedical, pain, physiotherapy and psychosocial sciences underpins supervised clinical practice.
Fee information
Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth SupportedFees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.
