David Kearney is an continuing academic staff member. He is the program director for research degrees. He leads the Systems Architecture and Security Group and is director of the Reconfigurable Computing Laboratory


Teaching interests

  • I currently teach software engineering of web based applications and networking both at advanced undergarduate/postgraduate level. I also supervise honours students and advise postgradute research students primarily in my research area of reconfigurable computing

Research interests

  • My research is focused at present on reconfigurable computing. I am particularly interested in operating systems for reconfigurable computing, languages for expressing reconfigurable applications, clusters of reconfigurable computers and applications of reconfurable computing. My research thus includes the operating system ReconfigME, the language Hardware Join Java , the Insilice reconfigurable cluster and applications of reconfigurable computing relating to Unihabited Airbourne Vehicles (UAVs), infrared image processing and tracking and the seaching of bioinoformatic databases.
