Research interests

  • XML based research: XML functional dependencies, mapping between XML and relational databases with regard to schemas and constraints; XML design theory in terms of normal forms; translation between XSLT and SQL
  • Data warehouse based research: View maintenance, especially in relational databases, Object-relational databases, and nested databases
  • Data integration based research: fundamental operations for transformation, constraints in integration.
  • Data extraction from HTML pages
  • XML data transformation and integration. It studies how XML data can be transformed to a required format without information loss and how multiple XML documents can be integrated while keys are preserved and satisfied.
  • Data Security in relational databases and XML databases.

Research Degree Supervisor

I am working in the following areas: view maintenance in data warehouses, XML data semantics and design, XML data query, mapping between XML data and the relational data, data extraction from HTML tables.

Current Projects:

XML data extraction
XML data in WWW can be interesting in some applications. This project aims to extract data of interest from WWW and store the extracted data in a normalized document.
