I am a sessional academic in the School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, at Mawson Lakes, and completing a PhD in Business and Management.
I have a particular interest regulating technology; especially with respect to legal, technological, and socio-technical issues relating to identification, and in particular those associated with privacy, and security.
I have worked in numerous roles across the information technology sector; including systems administrator, software developer, database administrator, desktop support, and cat herder (aka programming team leader). I came to realise that I am far better at breaking things than fixing them, and at explaining what went wrong than any of my colleagues at the time (and thus, perhaps, a natural academic).
I have also spent time as a medical microbiologist, morgue attendant, crowd controller, dishwasher, lawyer, private tutor, door-to-door salesman, barman, and so on.
At the same time, I have managed to complete a Science degree (Microbiology & Genetics) with Honours (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry) and an Honours Law degree. Along the way I have also thrown myself at postgraduate studies in Comp Sci, and in Law, and in Education (teaching).
I am member of several professional associations (see below).
