For the first time a systematic national survey of over 30,000 graduating
Australian students has been conducted to build a broad understanding of the
opinions of graduate students post university
employment expectations, including:
expected salary,
the value of various benefits being
offered by employers,
what aspects of ‘corporate culture’
are important,
methods of seeking work,
expectations of working life.
This innovative new survey, known as University and Beyond, was undertaken
by Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) (with funding from the then Department
of Education, Science and Training). The GCA is a not-for-profit
organisation that tracks the activities of new university graduates,
reporting annually on their employment destinations and starting salaries.
The University and Beyond findings will be coupled with information
collected in the GCA’s annual Graduate Outlook Survey (a survey of graduate
employers) to provide a more detailed picture of the movement of graduates
from higher education to the workforce.
This information can then be used by those recruiting graduates to tailor
employment packages based on a clear understanding of student desires and
expectations, as well as being used by graduate employers and universities
to better communicate to students a realistic understanding of employment
prospects following university and the expectations of employers once they
enter the workforce.
We are pleased to be able to invite you to a free seminar where key findings
from the University and Beyond and related information from the Graduate
Outlook Survey are presented and discussed.
