Planning my career
It’s never too early to start planning your career. UniSA Careers Services provides lots of ways for you to find out about your career options. Here are some suggestions to help you gather information about your industry area and potential employers.
-
Attend Career Services Employer presentations on campus. These sessions give you an opportunity to find out more about what particular organisations offer, and increase your understanding of the industry you plan to enter.
-
Be proactive in seeking work experience in your particular field of interest. This will improve your chances of gaining employment after graduation and smooth you entry into the workforce. Check out the Work Experience section for details about how to find work experience.
-
Apply for scholarships, cadetships and graduate programs. Your School will be able to provide some information about scholarships, and MyCareerPlan advertises cadetships and graduate programs.
- Network! Good networking skills are a key element in career success. The Networking section of this website will give you lots of tips about how to network successfully. A great way for women in non-traditional areas to increase their networks is by joining Industry Associations which will also be able to provide broader information that may help with career planning. Your family and friends can also be a great source of networks into industry opportunities.
