Working outside of Australia

If you are thinking about working outside of Australia, many of the challenges are similar to if you work in Australia. These include making career decisions, how to find a job and what employers expect. The general principles of finding the ideal career are universal worldwide. Employers every where also want to know how you meet their requirements.

Despite the commonalities, do remember differences will exist between industries, employers and jobs. Some of these differences are subtle, but can impact on whether you get an interview. Country variations can relate to how you look for jobs, your job applications and interview technique. Make sure you do your research and always tailor your approach.

Finding out about your work eligibility before you move to your destination is vital. Generally, work permits are not provided unless you have already found employment, and an employer is willing to verify this. Check with your destination's embassy, commission or consulate for further information.
