Prerequisite(s): At least four courses in Writing and Creative Communication, or by negotiation with the Course Coordinator or the Program Director.
Not available to students who have successfully completed COMM 3045 Writing and Community Practice.

Changing and contested views about the nature of literacy and its relationship to linguistic and other communicative practices as they are manifest in community, educational and professional contexts; government intervention in institutionalised literacy and linguistic practices; the researcher as writer and writer as researcher in these contexts; analysis of discourse functions in professional and community situations; introduction to and analysis of examples of qualitative/ethnographic research perspectives; design, conduct and writing of a report on a field research project.
