Prerequisite(s): EEET 2027 Digital Signal Processing, EEET 3028 Introduction to Communication Systems.

Communication signals: Signal space representation; Digital modulation methods. Optimum receivers for AWGN channels: Matched filter receiver; Maximum-likelihood and MAP detectors; Performance of optimum detector. Information theory: Mutual information; Channel capacity. Channel coding: Linear block codes; Optimum decoding of linear block codes; \Linear convolutional codes; Viterbi decoding and MAP decoding;
