Perspectives on peer tutoring: motivation for peer tutoring, different stakeholder perspectives, learning theory perspectives: behaviourist, cognitive, humanist, critical, feminist, constructivist and cultural perspectives; role of peer tutor, attributes, benefits and limitations of peer tutoring; Principles of Peer-Tutoring: adult learning, experiential learning, student centered learning, facilitation, ethics. Preparing for the School Environment: school policies, mandatory notification, OHSW policy, youth justice issues; Interpersonal Communication Skills: active listening, facilitation, conflict resolution, managing peer tutor relationships; Understanding Learners: learning theory, constructivist approaches to learning, factors which impact on learning: socio-economic, gender, culture and others, Peer tutoring approaches: strategies for developing effective learners, Collaborative learning: developing group norms, understanding group dynamics and developing shared understandings, Reflective Practice: reflection on action, critical enquiry, evaluating peer tutoring experiences.
