Prerequisite(s): Available to students for whom English is an additional (ie second or foreign) language only and who have achieved an IELTS minimum overall score of 6.5 or TOEFL 570 or LANG 1052 English Language Studies 1A or LANG 1053 English Language 1B or equivalent.

Extension of vocabulary, grammatical concepts, structures; use of English in a range of situations; English in academic contexts; sociolinguistic and intercultural knowledge integral to a range of communicative situations and tasks; critical reading, listening, writing, analysis of texts; note-taking, paraphrasing, summarising, synthesising, preparing and presenting reports; tasks and skills: project organisation, negotiating contacts, evaluating, synthesising and presenting information, preparing and giving computer-based oral presentations; structuring meaning through expansion e.g. extension and elaboration.
