Reading and noting

Now you are ready to explore the literature and critically analyse what you find. As you read the
literature, you will probably modify your plan to incorporate extra ideas you come across. You may find it helpful to generate specific questions to guide and focus your reading and noting. For
example:

• What are the major issues?

• Why are these issues important? How/when/to whom do they apply? What are the
  consequences of applying/not applying them?

• To what extent and in what ways do the various theories/research findings agree/disagree
  with the above?

• What else is of relevance? interest? importance?

• What links between these issues/factors/ideas are discussed in the literature? What
  links can you make?
