After the Exam

Immediately after the exam it is best to relax and clear your mind. Then you might want to review your performance. You will have views about your preparation or performance that are worth writing up and filing so that you can approach your next exam more confidently and positively.

When you receive your results, if you are not happy about the grade or your performance you will need to take some action quickly to follow through. 

1. If you believe there has been a mistake in grading your paper or you have been marked unfairly it is important to 

• read the relevant academic policies which will help you to decide on the most appropriate action. 
• note that there is a  time limit on requesting reviews and remarking. You may need to make contact with the Course Coordinator immediately. If you try unsuccessfully to make contact leave a message with the School Office and keep notes about the contact times so that you can demonstrate that you responded within the set time.
• explore your options either with teaching staff from your course or with staff in Learning Connection. Note that final exams cannot be re-marked or re-submitted.
• consider whether you want to speak to  the Student Advisory Officers (SAOS) in the Student Association.  Contact the USASA office at your home campus.

2.    If you suspect your exam performance let you down you may be able to review your exam paper. This can enable you to improve your performance in exams. Contact the Course Coordinator to find out if this is possible in your case. This option may be practical only in courses with interim exams rather than those with a final exam. 

If you find that there are learning issues or exam strategies that you can work on you have a number of options including  further exploring Learning Connection online resources, contacting your home Learning Connection or searching for appropriate library based resources.
