Your first assignment
Completing your first assignment well and getting it in on time is closely related to good time management skills. In order to manage your time well, you should think about how you can balance your studies with other commitments.
In planning for your first assignment you need to consider:
- Your lecturers’ specifications for the assignment (in the course information booklet or on the course website)
- The percentage of marks allocated to the assignment. The larger the weighting, the more time you should spend.
- The number and weighting of assignments you have due at the same time.
- The amount of time required in reading recommended and library-based resources.
To seek clarification about your assignment:
- Ask your tutor to discuss the task during class.
- Ask Library staff about information search skills.
- Search Ask Learning Connection for resources about different types of assignments (for example essays and reports)
- Attend an on-campus workshop about assignment writing and referencing.
- Visit a Learning Adviser during a drop-in time
