Overseas Student Health Cover

It is an essential requirement of your student visa that you have adequate health cover while you are studying in Australia. You are required by law to pay for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). If you do not have health cover (also called ‘health insurance’) you fail to meet your visa conditions and risk having your visa cancelled. OSHC helps pay for medical and hospital care should you become ill during your stay in Australia.

UniSA's preferred health care provider

The University of South Australia's preferred health care provider for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is OSHC Worldcare. For information about overseas student health cover prices (premiums) and the services you will receive from OSHC Worldcare, please refer to the website: www.oshcworldcare.com.au

New students

UniSA requires that new students have program length cover (PLC). This ensures that you are covered for the duration of your studies at UniSA. You will not have to renew your policy unless you decide to extend your studies in Australia.

Program length cover (PLC) is an easy way for you and your family to reduce both your financial and visa-compliance risks. PLC ensures peace of mind for you that your family's health cover needs will be met for the duration of your UniSA program. It also removes any potential for your OSHC policy to expire thus avoiding a violation of a condition of your student visa which may have an impact on any future application you make for a student visa or consideration for migration once your study is finished

Continuing students

If you do not have program length cover (PLC) please be aware that you are responsible for maintaining your OSHC membership. To renew your membership, you will need to go to Campus Central prior to the expiry date on your OSHC card. The annual premiums for OSHC may increase from year to year. To access 2008 rates please visit the OSHC Worldcare website.

Please note that Campus Central will only take payments for the University's preferred provider - OSHC Worldcare. If you wish to purchase health cover with another provider you will need to contact them directly. A list of Overseas Student Health Cover providers can be found below.
