The study of commercial law provides students with an excellent background in the way in which laws are created and in which they affect every aspect of our economic lives. It is essential for students to understand the manner in which laws not only enable the powerful to enhance their power but also the powerless to attempt to place themselves on the same footing as those who wield influence. The great struggle between these two competing forces underlies much of the study of law. The aim of law teaching is to provide students with a better appreciation of this often misunderstood discipline and an ability to work within its often mysterious frameworks.
