Australian Studies is the interdisciplinary study of Australian cultures and communities in their geographical, historical, social and political contexts. Issues of national identity, cultural diversity and race relations are central to Australian studies, particularly in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This field of study draws on knowledge and insights provided from a range of disciplines including economics, geography, history, literary studies, politics and sociology.
