Disclosure
The decision to disclose your disability or medical condition while studying at tertiary level is a personal one and only you can make it. Disclosing a disability can be a life long process. Every time you enter a new work setting or study setting or meet new people you may need to make decisions about disclosing personal information.
It is important that any decision you make about disclosing is based on the benefits and disadvantages of telling others. Tertiary institutions are generally committed to promoting an environment where diversity and difference are both valued and respected. Many tertiary institutions have Disability Action Plans which set specific targets to address the participation rates of people with a disability undertaking courses and to identify and improve supports/accommodations for students with disabilities.
