Uni was
great! I mean having come, I suppose, from a secondary sector where there is
a very
narrow way of learning into the higher education sector where you can
basically find your own
style of learning and it just opened up the most amazing doors for me.
It also meant that for me I took the opportunity as a student with a
disability to volunteer to be on
committees and that led to a career path for me because having sat on a lot
of University based
committees and committees that also crossed organisations, people could see
what sort of skills
I had and from that I got the opportunity.
I was offered a short term contract and from there I eventually won a
permanent position. So it gave me
the opportunity to explore avenues that I never thought would be open for
me.
