Purpose of this assignment

Nursing and Health is a skills-based subject and this assignment gives you the opportunity to practise and develop skills of communication and interviewing. It also invites you to reflect on those skills in the light of your knowledge about these skills. In particular, this assignment requires you to demonstrate that you:

• have knowledge about the skills of communicating and interviewing in a nurse-client setting
• can use these skills in a real interview
• can apply your theoretical knowledge by reflecting on and analysing the communication that occurred (or didn't effectively occur) in your interview
• have learned from your experience of planning, carrying out, reporting on and reflecting on your interview

Being conscious of the purpose of the assignment will help you decide what to focus on in the report. You could also look again at the Course Objectives or Outcomes that are in the Course Information Booklet. They will remind you with the "big picture" of the course.
