Aim
The program will prepare students for careers as technically skilled librarians as well as knowledge and information officers at a postgraduate level.
Entry requirements
Applicants should normally hold a Bachelors degree or equivalent. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Management (Library Management) or equivalent qualification from a recognised higher education institution may be eligible for entry.
For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or
- Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or
- Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which English is commonly used, as determined by the University. Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director.
Content/structure
The Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Management requires the completion of courses totalling 36 units.
Professional Recognition
This program is recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Students must fulfil a fieldwork placement in the library and information sector for a period of 4 weeks or equivalent.

Fees for International students: $AU 21,250 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2011.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules
- The program requires the completion of 36 units of core courses.
- Students who have completed an equivalent qualification will receive credit, subject to approval of the Program Director.
- Students are able to study on either a full-time or part-time basis.
- The program is primarily offered online.
Notes
- Not all electives will necessarily be available in any one calendar year and the decision on whether or not to offer a particular elective will depend on student demand.
- Students who elect to undertake the Teacher Librarianship qualification courses are required by Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS) to enrol in Reading for Leisure and Learning (LIBR 5013) and Information Management Project (INFS 5067) and undertake the project within a School Library. Students planning to undertake a Minor Thesis or a Project within the Master of Library and Information Management, are required to complete the course CIS Research Methods (INFT 4017) in lieu of Information Governance (INFS 5075)
- Students who undertake CIS Research Methods (INFT 4017) will have the choice of the ICT Masters Project 1 (INFT 5023) and 2 (INFT 5024); or the Masters Computing Minor Thesis 1 (COMP 5003) and 2 (COMP 5003) when enrolling in the Master of Library and Information Management.
