Aim

The program prepares students for careers in a wide range of business information management areas, as: technically skilled records managers, archivists, librarians, preservation managers, internet/intranet coordinators, information analysts and administrators, as well as knowledge and information officers at graduate and postgraduate levels.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally have a completed recognised Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification. Applicants with a Graduate Diploma in Business Information Management, or equivalent qualification with a Grade Point Average of 5 or better will also be eligible for entry.

For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or

Content/structure

The program requires the completion of 54 units comprising 36 units from the Graduate Diploma and either: (a) 18 units of electives provided or, (b) 18 units consisting of either the ICT Masters Project 1 and 2, or the Masters Computing Minor Thesis 1 and 2.

Fee information

Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth Supported
Fees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.

Fees for International students: $AU 21,250 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2011.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules

  1. The program requires the completion of 54 units comprising 36 units from the graduate diploma and either: (a) 18 units of electives provided, or 18 units from any of the specialisations listed, (b) 18 units consisting of either the ICT Masters Project 1 and 2, or the Masters Computing Minor Thesis 1 and 2.
  2. Students who undertake CIS Research Methods (INFT 4017) will have the choice of the ICT Masters Project 1 (INFT 5023) and 2 (INFT 5024); or the Masters Computing Minor Thesis 1 (COMP 5003) and 2 (COMP 5003) when enrolling in the Master of Business Information Management

Notes

  1. Students are able to study on either a full-time or part-time basis, fully online or face-to-face at the City West campus.
  2. Not all electives will necessarily be available in any one calendar year and the decision on whether or not to offer a particular elective will depend on student demand.
  3. Students who successfully complete an equivalent qualification will receive credit, subject to approval of the Program Director.
  4. Credit will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director.
