Aim

The program is designed to produce graduates who will have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute effectively to the ever-changing health industry. The program aims to produce graduates who have a foundation in basic health science with a major and minor area of study to be determined after the first year, and who can employ inter-disciplinary knowledge and skills to operate effectively within the broader health care sector.

In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must satisfy the following:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA;
OR
Successful completion of a secondary qualification in Australia within the last two years;
OR
Successful completion of at least one year of tertiary study in Australia within the last two years;
OR
Successful completion of one year of secondary or tertiary study conducted and completed in English within the last two years in a country in which:

Content/structure

The program includes courses in biological and social sciences, health related concepts and practice, health psychology, health promotion and management, health research and statistics. The degree requires the completion of courses comprising 108 units.

Honours

Students obtaining a credit level average or higher may be accepted into an Honours program in accordance with the current policy, and then proceed to postgraduate research degrees.

Fee information

Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth Supported
Fees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.

Fees for International students: $AU 18,375 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2010.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules

  1. A major (36 units) consists of 8 courses with no more than two courses at Level 1 and at least two courses at each of Levels 2 and 3. All students must complete one major area of study from one of the following University majors: Administrative Management, Adult and Community Education Studies, Commerce, Counselling Studies, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Management of Information Technology, and Psychology.
  2. A minor (18 units) consists of four courses with no more than two courses at Level 1. The minor may be selected from one of the following University minor areas of study: Administrative Management, Adult and Community Education Studies, Commerce, Counselling Studies, Human Resource Management, Management Accounting, Management of Information Technology, Marketing, Psychology, or subject to the approval of the Program Director, from other courses related to the field of Health Science including those which may extend the student's major area of study.
  3. Maximum credit allowed - normally two-thirds of the total point value of the program.
