Student Registration
Student registration with the State Registration Board is required prior to enrolment in this program and must be maintained throughout the program. See the requirements on the Podiatry Board of South Australia web-site. Students who fail to register or who do not meet registration criteria and are refused registration by the Board, or who have their registration rescinded during the program, will be unable to continue in the program.
Applicants with a confirmed offer* must register on the Registration Board's Student Register before commencing the program.

Police Check
Applicants are advised that a successful National Police Check may be required prior to field or clinical placements.

Aim
The program is designed to provide the necessary education and training for graduates to enter professional practice in various fields of podiatry, including private practice, community health centres and hospital practice. Additionally the program prepares students for further study.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for entry to this Bachelor program, students are required to have :

Qualified for the SACE
-
Recorded achievement in five SACE subjects taken at Stage 2 level
-
Included at least four Stage 2 subjects that are approved Higher Education Selection Subjects (HESS)
-
Obtained an achievement score of ten or better for prerequisite subjects
-
Obtained a competitive TER.
Alternatively, applicants may apply for entry if they have:
- Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE
- Completed, or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution
- Completed at least four Open Learning Australia (OLA) subjects at the appropriate level
- Completed a recognised TAFE Diploma
- Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma
- Qualified for Special Entry
- Completed the Health Science stream of the UniSA Foundation Studies program
In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)(Academic) test - a minimum overall score of 6.5 or equivalent Test of English as a Foreigh Language TOEFL; or
- A tertiary qualification completed in Australia within the last two years at an acceptable academic level; or
- One year of secondary or tertiary study conducted in English within the last two years in a country in which English is an official language.
Content/structure
The program includes courses in biological, physical, and social sciences, professional studies and broadening education. Total units required to complete the program is 144.
Honours
Students who achieve a credit level average in the courses which make up the first and second years of the program may be considered for the Honours program. Normally a quota for places will apply. The invitation to students will be made at the commencement of the third year of the program.
Fee information
Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth SupportedFees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.
Fees for International students: $AU 18,550 per 1.0 EFTSL for students commencing in 2008.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Rules
- Students are required to satisfy the standard of dress and behaviours as prescribed by institutions in which clinical placements are undertaken. Failure to do so may prevent them satisfying the requirements for completion of the program.
- Maximum credit allowed - normally two-thirds of the total units of the program.
- Students may be required to obtain a National Police Certificate before commencing clinical placements at an external authority.
- Students will be required to obtain and maintain registration as a student podiatrist with the Podiatry Board of South Australia prior to and then throughout their period of enrolment as a podiatry undergraduate student. Students will not be permitted to participate in any course of study within the Bachelor of Podiatry program at the University of South Australia without valid registration

Broadening Education Elective is a free elective to be selected from any discipline area approved as contrasting with the discipline category of the professional core.

Students may be required to undertake clinical practice sessions outside of teaching weeks.

Students will be required to spend at least one clinical placement in a country or interstate location.

Students must hold a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate at the commencement of year 2 of the program and maintain its currency for the remainder of the program.

Students will be required to undertake a Certificate of Mandatory Notification Training before commencing their paediatric clinical practice in REHB 3037 and REHB 3038 Podiatry Clinical Practice 300 and 301.
