English language entry requirements
In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must satisfy the following:

Content/structure

The Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science will, within its three streams, cover the scientific disciplines that underpin the discovery, development, formulation, approval, evaluation and marketing of medicines. These paths are research and development (e.g. drug discovery, formulation, clinical trials), manufacturing (including quality control) and professional/business (including sales marketing, legal and regulatory, drug information).

Students will gain specialist knowledge in one or more of career streams that have been identified within the pharmaceutical industry.

Although there are identified streams with a choice of electives in each, students will not be mandated to complete a stream (prerequisites will restrict free movement between streams). Therefore there are no minors in this program.

108 units are required to complete the program.

Professional Recognition

Students will be encouraged to apply for individual registration with the Royal Australian Chemist's Institute (RACI) and other relevant professional bodies.

Honours

A number of courses in this program will equip students with the preparatory research orientation required for future research training in an Honours program. Specifically, students will acquire technical laboratory skills and information literacy skills; they will also gain exposure to the principles of sound experimental design. Appropriate elective choices will enable further development of these skills. Students with an interest in further research will be encouraged to undertake a research project in the capstone course Pharmaceutical Industry Experience: this will allow students to consolidate and apply their preparatory research skills to a specific research question, relevant to pharmaceutical science. Graduates from this program, with an appropriate Grade Point Average, may then enter the Divisional Honours Program.
