Aim
The program is designed to provide experience in executing research projects and continuing education in areas relevant to the specific professional interests of graduate students.
Entry requirements
A completed Bachelor degree in a related discipline from at a recognised higher education institution or equivalent qualification; or a completed Graduate Diploma in a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution.
For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; or
- Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or
- Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which English is commonly used, as determined by the University. Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of two or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the Program Director.
Content/structure
The degree requires the completion of courses comprising 54 units. The formal study component must include Minor Thesis TS 1 (CIVE 5045) and Minor Thesis TS 2 (CIVE 5046). At least 18 units (4 courses) must be chosen from the listed core courses. The remaining 18 units (4 courses) may be selected from the listed elective courses

Rules
- Credit will not normally be granted for more than one third of the total units of the program.
- Individual programs of study to satisfy the overall formal study requirements of 54 units may be constructed by choice of electives. Such electives shall be drawn mainly from within existing master degree, graduate diploma or graduate certificate programs and shall be approved by the Program Director.

Full-time students may complete the program in eighteen calendar months (3 semesters).

Not all courses will be available in any one calendar year.
- Students will normally enrol in the Minor Thesis TS 1 (CIVE 5045) and Minor Thesis TS 2 (CIVE 5046) in their second year of study. Research topics will normally be identified earlier.
- The Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice (Transport Systems Engineering) provides a pathway for subsequent entry to this program and both awards can be completed in two years of full time study or part time equivalent.
