Aim

The program aims to provide a flexible, comprehensive and highly relevant inservice education for practitioners at a graduate level who are working as professional educators and trainers.

Entry requirements

Admission to the program will normally require completion of a three year undergraduate degree in any discipline plus at least two years of experience as an educator in an educational setting or equivalent.

Content/structure

The program requires the completion of courses totalling 18 units.

Note: this award does not lead to registration as a teacher by the Teachers Registration Board.

Fee information

Fees for Domestic students: Commonwealth Supported
Fees for Commonwealth Supported Students are calculated at the course level. Click on individual courses in the schedule below to determine total program fees.

Fees for International students: $AU 7,350 per 0.5 EFTSL for students commencing in 2009.
Fees are calculated on a per Unit basis with 1.0 EFTSL = 36 Units.
Fees for International students are determined one year in advance and are subject to variation.

Notes

  1. The Professional Focus Elective requires a choice between two 4.5 unit courses: either EDUC 5121 Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education or EDUC 5122 Supervising Research Students.
  2. The Elective is to be selected from the following 4.5 unit courses:
    EDUC 1062 Facilitating Learning with Adults
    EDUC 3046 Theorists and Theories of Adult Learning and Development
    EDUC 3043 Learning Cultures: Whiteness and Education
    EDUC 5123 Teachers' Work as Language Work
    EDUC 3041 Critical Perspectives on Flexible and e-learning Pedagogies
    EDUC 2045 Program Development in Adult, Vocational and Workplace Contexts
    EDUC 4135 Workplaces as Learning Sites
    Note that any pre/corequisites will be waived for students enrolled in this specialisation.
  3. The award can be completed on a part-time basis only.
