Aim
This program aims to provide a solid grounding in the application of computer and information technology to prepare graduates for a career specialising in networking, e-commerce, information systems, software development or multimedia, particularly in a small to medium business setting.
Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have one of the following qualifications:
- Qualified for SACE; and
- Recorded achievement in five SACE subjects taken at stage 2 level; and
- Included at least four Stage 2 subjects which are approved Higher Education Selection Subjects (HESS); and
- Obtained a competitive TER;
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have:
- Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for University entry under SACE and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, obtaining a minimum score of 24 points and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Completed an award from TAFE or from another registered training organisation at AQF Certificate IV or above and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Qualified for Special Entry and fulfilled any prerequisite requirements;
- Completed the University Foundation Studies program.
OR
Completed one of the following professional courses:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- MCSE + Internet and Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD)
- Lotus Certified Professional (CLP)
- Novell Certified NetWare Engineer (CNE)
- Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP)
Content/structure
The Associate Degree in Information Technology consists of two years full-time study or 72 units. Students must select a schedule that majors in either Information Technology or Information Systems and then select a Minor of 18 units from one the following specialisations: Software Development, Networking, Information Systems or e-Commerce.

Rules
- The Associate Degree in Computer and Information Science is equivalent to two years of full-time study of 72 units. Students must select either the Information Systems schedule or the Information Technology schedule. Each schedule consists of 54 units of specified courses and a minor.
- Students must select a minor to from those listed in the program notes - there are minors in E-Commerce, Information Systems, Networking and Software Development.Students taking the Information Systems schedule can select any of these minors except the Software Development minor.Students taking the Information Technology schedule may select any of these minors.

Students who have completed some TAFE studies in computing may be given some credit in this program. The credit given will depend on the courses taken in the TAFE program. A credit transfer statement for the TAFE Associate Diplomas is available on application from the School
