Aim
This program aims to build the current knowledge, analytic capacities and the teaching resources of educational practitioners through engaging them in workplace inquiries about practice; current theories and debates about education; and exploration of relevant local, national and international research and policy.
Entry requirements
Three year teaching qualification or industry equivalent.
Content/structure
The Graduate Certificate of Education consists of 18 units involving study of four 4.5 unit courses:
EDUC 5070 Practitioner Inquiry 1 and EDUC 5043 Policy, Curriculum and Teaching Studies 1 introduce teachers to approaches to practitioner inquiry in relation to a specific field of practice, such as literacy education, educational leadership, student learning and early childhood. These specific fields change each year in response to industry consultation. Please contact the Program Director for further information. EDUC 5071 Practitioner Inquiry 2 offers students the opportunity to design and implement an inquiry in their own setting. EDUC 5044 Policy, Curriculum and Teaching Studies 2 provides an opportunity to study in a further field of practice.

Rules
Normally 25% exemption/credit can be negotiated for equivalent work. Special provisions may be made for a cohort group but in that case a maximum of 50% would be granted.
