Aim
The Bachelor of Applied Finance provides graduates with specialist knowledge in applied finance that is appropriate to the needs of managerial personnel in financial institutions or in areas of business such as treasury, financial planning and small business management, and the potential to proceed to the honours program and other postgraduate study.
Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have:

Qualified for the SACE; and
-
Recorded achievement in five SACE subjects taken at Stage 2 level; and

Included at least four Stage 2 subjects which are approved Higher Education Selection Subjects (HESS);
- Obtained a competitive TER.
Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have:

Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE;

Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution;

Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level;

Completed a recognised diploma or advanced diploma from TAFE;
-
Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma;
-
Qualified for Special Entry.
Minimum English language entry requirements: coursework programs
The minimum English language entry requirements for international students who speak English as a foreign language are detailed below. It should be noted that some programs may specify higher English language entry requirements. These will be indicated in relevant program documentation.
Applicants are required to meet at least one of the English language entry requirements listed. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive.
Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Content/structure
Students undertake the division core and then a major in applied finance. In addition, students can undertake the professional sequence in applied finance and must complete 108 units to satisfy the requirements of the program.
Professional Recognition
Graduates of the program satisfy the educational requirements for membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia). Membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia further requires the graduate to be working in the financial services industry.

The program is comprised of:
- a Division Core of eight courses and
- an Applied Finance major of eight courses specific to the program, and
- a professional sequence of four courses and four elective courses.

Notes for students studying at Taylor's College:
- All Division Core courses will be offered in both the first and second half of the year.

With the permission of the Program Director, students may use the professional sequence/elective courses to complete:
- a second major of eight courses from within the Division (which includes one course from the Division core), or
- one minor of four courses (which includes one course from the Division core) and four elective courses from within the Division, or courses from outside of the Division including one minor of up to a maximum of 4 courses can be taken from Communication courses offered by the School of Communication at Taylor's College. These courses are COMM 1055: Public Relations 1 CMM, COMM 2037: Public Relations 2, COMM 1043: Issues in Publication and Design and COMM 3006: Advertising: Images, Industry and Audience, or
- two minors of four courses each from within the Division (with at least one minor including one course from the Division core).
