Aim

This program is designed to further develop motivated men and women for senior leadership positions in organisations operating in international business environments.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the program shall normally hold:

  1. A recognised University undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualifications and a minimum of two years' full-time relevant work experience OR

  2. A Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with an average of at least Pass Level 1 (55%) from the International Graduate School of Business at the University of South Australia or an equivalent qualification from other Schools within the University of South Australia or from another recognised University OR

  3. A Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with an average of at least Pass Level 1 (55%) across at least 4 courses from the International Graduate School of Business at the University of South Australia or an equivalent qualification from other Schools within the University of South Australia or from another recognised University.

All applicants are required to submit two referee reports and a detailed curriculum vitae outlining managerial and executive experience.

Minimum English language entry requirements: coursework programs

The minimum English language entry requirements for international students who speak English as a foreign language are detailed below. It should be noted that some programs may specify higher English language entry requirements. These will be indicated in relevant program documentation.

Applicants are required to meet at least one of the English language entry requirements listed. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements does not, in itself, guarantee a place at the University of South Australia. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive.

Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Other Qualifications

·Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; or

·Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which English is commonly used, as determined by the University (see Note 2). Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of at least two years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University.

Note 1: Results from IELTS and TOEFL are valid for two years.

Note 2: The University, through UniSA International, maintains a list of countries where English is commonly used and which would satisfy this criteria. This may include particular educational institutions within a given non-English speaking country where English is the language of instruction.

Content/structure

The MBA is an intensive program of 54 units comprising 12 constituent courses and a structured Commencement Seminar. No electives are offered in off-shore deliveries, in which the program schedule is fixed according to delivery location and contractual relationships with partner organisations.

Rules

  1. The University of South Australia will determine which courses will be made available to transnational students of this program. Not all courses may be available in any one calendar year.

  3. Applications for credit, exemption and/or studies in lieu will be considered in accordance with the University of South Australia's Policy No: A-13, Recognition of prior learning for credit, exemption and studies-in-lieu, Appendix A. Credit transfer framework: Recognition of formal studies at other tertiary education institutions and/or of work or life experience. These applications will be considered by the Head of School or nominee.

    Credit may be granted for courses

    a. That have a business and management focus;

    b. That have been completed at postgraduate level within 10 years at the time of application;

    c. That have been completed at a Pass Level 2 grade or higher, as per the University of South Australia's grading system or its equivalent.

  4. Academic performance will be monitored by the IGSB Board of Examiners. Students are limited to 3 Supplementary Assessments within the Master of Business Administration.

  5. Chinese MBA students will be expected to be proficient in Mandarin

Notes

  1. This program is a full fee paying program and is offered subject to market demand and other conditions.

  2. This program is delivered in the English language and in Mandarin in chosen locations.

  3. All commencing students are required to attend a structured Commencement Seminar. No grade is awarded for this.

  4. The Master of Business Administration is designed as a nested program, with credit transfers and articulation pathways from the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.
