The Reverend Mr Coote, a Catholic Clergyman, will have the honor of presenting this letter to you.
This Gentleman's object in proceeding to Van Diemen's Land is to undertake the Spiritual care of such of His Majesty's Roman Catholic Subjects as reside in that Colony.
He has been strongly recommended by Dr. Murray of Dublin to Dr Poynter, the Vicar Apostolic of the London District, and by the latter to Earl Bathurst, and I am directed by His Lordship to recommend him accordingly to your protection.
