Sir,

I am directed to reply to your letter of the 26th Ultimo and to acquaint that the Lieutenant Governor does not feel himself called upon to comply with your request of giving publicity to your appointment, as by the nature of the letter from the Colonial Office, a copy of which I enclose, you will perceive there is no mention made of an appointment for you, but merely of your intention to proceed to this Country, with this letter of Introduction.
