Sir,

I do myself the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 2^nd. August last, alluding to the conduct of Mr Coote who, it appears, has unauthorizedly exercised in the Colony the functions of a Roman Catholic Priest.

And I am much gratified to find that you are satisfied with the support which I found it my duty to render to the Reverend Mr Conolly, who is charged with the Superintendence of the Catholic Church in Van Diemen's Land.
