Downing Street, London

4th. July 1826

Dear Sir,

The Commissioners of the Navy have informed me that the Phoenix Convict Ship is to leave the River Thames for Cork about this time, where she may be expected to arrive on the 6th. or 7th. You will have the goodness to communicate this to the two Roman Catholic Clergymen who are to proceed to New South Wales. I enclose a letter to the Governor, notifying their appointment and introducing them to his favour and protection. The Colonial Agent has been authorized to issue to each of them on their embarkation the sum of £50, being six months advance of Salary, which they will draw in the manner most convenient to themselves.

I remain, My dear Sir,

Your very faithful and humble servant

R.W. Hay
