My dear friend,
I would have answered your communication of the 12th. inst. ere now, but was waiting to have some certain information relative to the Phoenix Transport to convey to you. Up to the present evening she has not arrived in Kingstown Harbour but is expected there not daily but hourly. I shall (without fail) make all possible further inquiries on the subject you mentioned and the instant she arrives I shall feel much pleasure in letting you know, though I much regret your object and destination. I wish most heartily you both would abandon such a forlorn expedition. Tis really a dreadful enterprise! However, I shall do the part assigned to me as agent faithfully, though reluctantly. Excuse haste, and believe me, my dear friend
Yours most affectionately
Jas M Kirwan
