Colonial Secretary's Office
5 June 1827
Reverend Sir,
It having been represented to the Governor that members of the Roman Catholic Communion are still buried in the Protestants' Burial Ground of Sydney, although a separate place has been assigned for their interment, and that sometimes this is done without any minister being present, I am directed by His Excellency to request that you will inform me whether these statements are correct, and if so the cause of these circumstances.
I have the honor to be,
Reverend Sir,
Your most obedient Servant
Alex. McLeay
