Claire Woods is Professor,Communication and Writing. She is Director of International Programs for the School of Communication, International Studies and Languages.

Claire is a member of the C3, Communication and Creative Cultures Research Group. The Group aims to provide quality research and consultancy in communication, including professional and creative writing and communication, media and culture, electronic communication and multimedia, language and literary practices in business,education, government, and community contexts. She is the leader of the research concentration Narratives of War. This group has a particular focus on the Narratives of war, peace and reconciliation.

Claire is Teaching Team leader in Writing and Creative Communication. The team is responsible for the BA (Writing and Creative Communication. In 2000, the team won the Australian Award for University Teaching in Humanities and the Arts. The team was joint winner of the Prime Minister's Award as University Teaching Team of the Year.The highest award for university teaching. The team also won the national award for teaching in Humanities and the Arts. The Teaching Team won a UniSA 1999 Supported Academic Teaching Award for Excellence in University Teaching.

Claire is Director, International Programs for the School of Communication, International Studies and Languages. These include programs taught in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, including the BA(Communication and Media Management) Undergraduate programs taught in Malaysia, the Bachelor of Media Arts, the Bachelor of Arts(Communication and Media Management) and the Bachelor of Journalism are all taught in conjunction with Taylors College.

Claire supervises post graduate students undertaking research degrees (Ph.D. and Doctorate of Communication) in areas related to Communication, Writing and Texts, Creative Writing and Literary Practice, including the Narratives of War, peace and reconciliation.

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (U.K.)Claire was Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland 2004 - 2006. She has been Visiting Researcher at universities in the U.S., U.K. , Canada and Denmark.
