Formerly Senior Deputy Public Trustee for the State Government, Murray has developed major strategic business activities in both the private and public sectors. A graduate of the prestigious Australian Administrative Staff College, Mt. Eliza, he joined the IGSM in 1996 to teach strategy orientated courses, and to provide additional management and leadership for the school's programs. Murray previously directed the MBA programs, the Master of Management suite of specialisation Programs and the Double Master of Business Programs. He has a leading role in the development of courses and was Discipline Leader for Management and Leadership which includes the Contemporary Management Perspectives course in the MBA. His current research centres on the interaction between MBA programs and the competencies of global leaders. He is Director of the ICFAI (India)/UniSA Double masters program. He teaches Strategic Concepts in the post-graduate Programs and Strategic Management as a capstone undergraduate course. In 2006 he received a "Supported Teacher Award for recognition of high performance in teaching as determined by the 2005 Student Evaluation of Teaching data" and was nominated in the 2008 Australian of the Year Awards.
