Dr Hariz is an active team leader in the Centre for Microsystems Technology (CMST) of the University of South Australia. He has been instrumental in establishing research programs in photonic technology, integrated circuit manufacture, and micro engineering of sensors and display devices. He has fifteen years of experience since his PhD program working on growth, processing, and characterisation of semiconductor materials and devices. Dr Alex Hariz received his MS and PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California in 1989. Together with Professor MR Haskard, he has won an ARC large grant in 1993, and successfully brought to completion the project on Micromachining of movable gate FET accelerometer. He further contributed to the success of the collaborative Targeted Instituional Links (TIL) program on micromachining with Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), which includes micro-engineering of inertial sensors, optical MEMS, and fabrication of miro tip arrays for use in flat panel display devices.
Program director for Electronics and Micro engineering stream of LBIF and LBGT. Principal program director for all EIE undergraduate programs
About life learning... "In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists." -- Eric Hoffer
