Expertise for Media Contact
I am able to provide media comment in the following areas of expertise:
Discipline: Urban Planning and Design
- Environmentally sustainable local area transport planning.
- Planning for retail environments.
- Regional planning and policy.
- Integrated transport and land use planning.
Research Degree Supervisor
I have research supervision skills in the areas of strategic urban and rural planning, local area transport planning(predominantly walking and cycling), ecologically sustainable urban and regional development, industrial development, aesthetic considerations in planning and planning for retail environments. I have jointly supervised two PhD completions:“Urban management and urban development in Iran (with particular reference to Shiraz)”
completed in 1996 by Mahyar Ardeshiri;
and
“ Factors influencing the industrial location decision in Jabotabek, Indonesia:
An Empirical study from a rapidly-growing urban region.” Completed in 1999 by Ugay Sugarmansyah.
I also supervised Theodor Wyeld’s Planning Minor Thesis “3D Computer Modelling as a Development Assessment Tool in Urban Planning.” (April 1999). The topic of this thesis is now being further developed into a PhD research project with the University of Adelaide to be submitted at the end of 2003.
